Sharpening

I offer free sharpening on any knife I have made, provided you cover the shipping costs.

If you have one of my knives and would like to take me up on this, please contact me via direct message or email before you send anything in the post.

I also run knife sharpening classes from my workshop in Brisbane.

Local sharpening in 4074 community

NEW Learn how to sharpen your own knives! Local classes now available.

I offer a general sharpening service for everything from knives and scissors to garden tools.

This is only a local service for people in the Centenary suburbs or surrounding areas of Brisbane. You will need to drop off and pick up the knives at my workshop in Westlake.

I don’t offer mobile sharpening and I don’t take sharpening jobs via post (unless I made the knife).

I can generally turn knives around over night or over the weekend and have flexible pick up and drop off time outside of business hours for busy people.

Please contact me through my Facebook page for this service and send a photo of the items you need sharpened. I’ll give you a quote and arrange drop off/pick up times.

Japanese knives

Being a knifemaker, I also specialize in sharpening and maintaining Japanese and other high-end, carbon steel knives that can be quickly ruined in the wrong hands.

For these knives, I offer a hand sharpening service. I use a selection of water stones and the service includes thinning behind the edge to fix the geometry, if required.

This starts at $25 for a small knife and is $35-45 for most standard size chefs 190mm-220mm.
